Hayle/Godrevy Cornwall

How long have you been taking photo’s:

I’ve been playing around with cameras since I was around 10 and started to shoot surfing more seriously when I got my first housing around the age of 17.

Where is your favourite place to shoot and why:

Heavy beach breaks and slabs! Love to get amongst it and feel the energy of the ocean whilst shooting. Nicaragua and Ireland have been standout places for me but nothing beats shooting home here in Cornwall.

What qualifications do you have:

Triple Distinction in Photography and Digital Imaging. I am also part of the SanDisk Extreme Team.

What other things do you shoot:

I really enjoy documentary style photography whether it be people and weddings or people at work. I also enjoy getting out and shooting some of the landscapes around my home here in Cornwall.

Why do you love shooting the bodyboarders on our trips and weekends:

Meeting new people from all walks of life from around the Globe all with a mutual stoke for Bodyboarding is a pretty cool experience. Even better when you can see people Bodyboarding improve throughout the week. I get stoked when I capture a persons best wave of the trip and able to offer that memory in my own photographic style.

How long have you been taking photos:

9 Years

Where is your favourite place to shoot and why:

Two of the most incredible places I have ever shot would probably be Morocco on one of the bodyboard holidays and New Zealand when I spent a month there exploring the two islands in a camper van. Nothing beats shooting back home though and I always love capturing the Cornish coast and in particular shooting at Fistral Beach in Newquay as I know it so well which really helps when getting that perfect shot.

What qualifications do you have:

Bachelor of Arts in Photography (2:1), University of Glamorgan.

What other things do you shoot:

I shoot a lot of weddings and events in general including Glastonbury festival and live music mainly in Cornwall. In my spare time I love to photograph everything that Cornwall has to offer with it’s amazing sea and landscapes and awesome wildlife!

Why do you love shooting the bodyboarders on our trips and weekends:

I love shooting the bodyboard weekends as I get to meet so many different people and watch their bodyboarding skyrocket whilst capturing it all on camera. The thrill of catching that perfect wave or someone’s first barrel is pretty epic!

Where do you live:

Newquay, Cornwall

How long have you been taking photo’s:

Since the age of 14. Only taking the hobby a little bit more serious at 17.

Where is your favourite place to shoot and why:

My favourite place to shoot is the one that puts a smile on my face; whether that be because of the backlit barrels, or where hoots are being shared between friends. Mainly because big heavy surf while stood knee depth over shallow reef gets my heart going and that’s what makes it more fun.

What other things do you shoot:

Next to shooting in the waters of Cornwall, the night sky is my next favourite, especially the journey to a deserted area where light pollution won’t affect the visibility of the stars.

Why do you love shooting the bodyboarders on our trips and weekends:

The amount of stoke that comes from them. Always good to see that you have made someone’s day or weekend just by providing them with something you love doing as well. Alongside seeing how the weekends and trips have created such friendship between people that were total strangers 2 hours previously.

Where is your favourite place to shoot and why:

So far I’d have to say Portugal for its variety of waves and locations, amazing colours and not to mention some of the best Bodyboarders in the world. I also love the NE of England due to its amazing contrast to Portugal, the winter is harsh and cold but it provides some incredible scenery.

What qualifications do you have:

Sound I, Restart Institute of Creativity Art and Technology 2012-13

BSc Music Technology (Graduating July 16), Leeds Beckett University 2013-16

What other things do you shoot:

I love capturing big wide landscapes, whether it’s in a city or in nature.

Why do you love shooting the bodyboarders on our trips and weekends:

What I love about shooting on our trips is seeing the stoke and how much people enjoy bodyboarding.

It is easy to get into and once you have that first drop everyone is hooked.

Most of all the thing I love is capturing the quick progression people have on these trips. It is often very noticeable the improvement people make, and you can see it day by day
