Secret Morocco Bodyboard Holiday | Score Secluded African Waves
Ability: Suitable for bodyboarders who are comfortable riding waves of head high and bigger (please click the Booking Information tab below for further information). Join us on a journey back in time for some world-class bodyboard coaching. Discovering the way life was before the popularisation of surfing and bodyboarding across the globe.
We’re heading to a secret North African location to ride virgin waves of pristine splendour. The search for solitude has been high on the agenda of the Bodyboard Holidays team for a long time and with Secret Morocco we’ve hit the jackpot. Discovering miles of empty beaches and bay after bay of empty peaks and endless untouched point break. All we’re going to say about the location is that it’s at the gateway to the Sahara desert. If you drive far enough in one direction, you simply run out of road. That’s where our adventure begins. So whether you’re looking to polish up your act, make some real progression or simply enjoy waves in the sun we’re set to offer you fantastic coaching in secluded paradise. The massive draw of this secret spot is its flawless open beaches and clear waves, which means we’re free to enjoy and explore this stretch of coast without the worry of polluted waters – an issue that’s beginning to affect other parts of Morocco. A typical walk through the nearby town will see you greeted by a flurry of friendly smiles as locals go about their daily business with their archaic donkey-drawn carts. Picture dusty roads freckled with goats – it’s a near biblical setting. An incredibly traditional place, it has basic amenities including small shops and a pharmacy. There’s a weekly market where local families go to buy and sell their produce as well as stalls that sell Moroccan jewellery and trinkets perfect for gifts. The town also boasts a great range of restaurants and a quaint local bar where you can have a few quiet beers after a long day scoring epic waves. If you want to share our newly discovered remote paradise the only thing we ask is that you help us keep this amazing place a secret. Less people in the know means more waves for you.
The search for isolation has rewarded us with perfect deserted waves rolling in under vibrant orange cliff tops. The majestic azure-blue ocean in this area is constantly alive – lack of swell is never an issue. As well as a secret right-hand point break we guarantee is empty 100% of the time, there’s also a left-hand wedge just below your ocean-front balcony. There are scores of other waves in the area some of which you will be the first to bodyboard. When the swell pumps there’s another left-hander that can offer up two super-long rides. We’ve recorded a 40-second ride at this particular spot during one of our video analysis sessions! Fun wedges and reeling points are the recipe for the week and, with plenty of wave options, we can find spots to suit all abilities regardless of swell and tide. The variety of waves offers the opportunity to hone your skills and practice specific manoeuvres. Perfect your three-sixties on smooth, steep open-faced waves or head to a bowly wedge to pop those rolls even higher. Scoring the best waves Morocco has to offer with just a few like-minded bodyboarders is an experience you’ll never forget.
Located on the fringe of the largest desert in the world our Secret Morocco spots have two distinct advantages — hot and dry winter weather and awesome scenery. The waves are consistent through November and March and the water temperature is pleasantly warm at around 18-20°C. A 3/2 wetsuit will keep you toasty warm and on hotter days a shorty can be worn.
We have new surf villa and apartment accommodation with large airy rooms and huge balconies – some have access to swimming pools. They’re totally secure and well maintained with friendly staff on hand to make your stay comfortable and hitch-free. The buildings are beautiful, both in and out, designed using traditional Moroccan architecture and are located upon cliff tops. They’re absolutely amazing and we’re thrilled to be taking you there.
