Indonesia Bodyboard Holiday | The Surf Trip of a Lifetime
Ability: All abilities welcome from new bodyboarders to experienced shredders.
After the ongoing success of our Indonesia trips that we have been delivering since 2008 we’ve decided to go bigger and better. Now you can choose to stay longer in this dreamy destination if you want to explore another area of the island and catch more perfect barrels.
We’re heading to this Indonesian paradise for world-class waves in a toasty tropical climate.
We’ve been running coaching trips in Indonesia for nearly a decade and every year we just can’t wait to get back. Join us and you’ll experience bath-warm water, a tropical climate, a rich history and environment, unique biodiversity, varying cultures, ethnicities and people, cheap living, great food and a staggering swell consistency.
In Bali you’re guaranteed waves with an incredible variety of set ups. Using local knowledge to guide us in the right direction each day we constantly revise our itinerary to get the best from the islands.
Our first destination on this trip is to the most exclusive area of Bali, Seminyak to the north of Kuta. As well as being home to the most fantastic restaurants, shopping and accommodation it’s just down the road to Bali’s most amazing beach break, Canggu.
Next we island hop to Nusa Lembongan which is 20km off the east coast of Bali, it’s just one hour’s cruise on a traditional Balinese outrigger. This small island has a population of only 4000 people and boasts stunning uncrowded waves and crystal clear waters perfect for snorkelling, jet skiing, fishing and of course incredible bodyboarding. Finally we explore the Bukit Peninsular which is blessed with perfect reef and beach set-ups. There’s always a wave groomed by offshore breezes if you know where to look and there are some stunning empty spots that suit all ability levels.
Indonesia is revered as the home of perfect warm-water barrels. A distant swell-pumping machine, Antarctic storms generate almost non-stop corduroy lines out of the south Indian Ocean from April to October, they quietly travel for thousands of miles before striking the pristine beaches of Bali and Nusa Lembongan. Starring some of the finest waves ever surfed, these islands have naturally become popular destinations for travelling bodyboarders, but with a little adventurous spirit and local knowledge uncrowded perfection is still very attainable.
There’s something for everyone at Canggu; a wedgy fun sand bar, a fast right hand wally peak in the middle of the beach and, for those fancying something more racy, a left hand reef break at the south end of the beach. We time our visit to take advantage of the best tides for uncrowded morning and evening sessions. There’s also a selection of cool beach bars and cafés on the beach.
Nusa Lembongan is a dream location with three fantastic waves which range from the fun, cruisy, deep water peaks of Playgrounds to the more challenging peaks of Lasso’s and Shipwrecks. To add to the adventure we get boats from the shore to the waves each day.
On the Bukit Peninsular our daily itinerary is flexible so we can make the most of varying swells and wind forecasts. We’ll surf most in the morning when the wind is lightest and the sun is less strong. You’ll be just minutes from Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Impossibles, Bingin and Dreamland, the most perfect waves in the world.
Lovely sunny weather every day with the odd evening downpour depending on how quickly the seasons are changing form wet season to dry. We choose this time of the year as the weather is continually fantastic, with incredible sunrises, sunsets and time to re-charge with a drink on a sun lounger during the afternoons.
Our two-week trip takes place in three separate locations; two different areas in Bali and the beautiful neighbouring island of Nusa Lembongan – the infinity pool at our accommodation here is complete heaven. We stay in three separate locations during the trip which are all of a similar standard with rooms that are a mix of twins and triples. They’re cleaned daily and have either air conditioning or fans.
